About Us

Founded in 1979, Wake Enterprises, Inc (WE) provides vocational and social opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and became the first agency in North Carolina offering supported employment in 1982. WE serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism, down syndrome, traumatic brain injuries, and seizure disorders.

Wake Enterprises offers a variety of services to overcome barriers to employment. For adults needing a structured environment, we operate two supervised work sites across Wake County, including Raleigh and Fuquay-Varina. Participants receive valuable job skills while completing contracts for local businesses. They earn a paycheck for the work they complete and gain work skills to take back into the community. In addition, with our supported employment and individual job placement, our employment specialist works with individual participants to find jobs within their community.

Life is more than work, so WE do more than work. WE focus on all members of a community having a place and are responsive to the needs of the people WE serve and our changing community. In addition to being a human service agency, Wake Enterprises is also a business dedicated to providing quality subcontracting, out sourcing, and fulfillment services at a fair price. Our Participants receive job training in areas such as electronic subassembly, corrugated box and insert assembly, shrink-wrapping, and more. By contracting with Wake Enterprises, companies have access to a dependable workforce that provides quality work on time and can avoid wasting payroll dollars by utilizing the Business Services we provide. Wake Enterprises is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our funding comes from a variety of sources including government, grants, private providers and contract revenues. Nevertheless, funding never meets our needs to provide the full range of services we would like. We realize that we need corporate and private contributions in order for our programs to thrive and flourish.
